Warming Up on competition day.

Post by koryodan »

Hi guys!

Just wanted any advice on how to warm up for before a fight and keep warm throughout a competition.

Basically the morning of the competition I get up and do dynamic stretches. Then when I arrive at the venue I do dynamics to warm up and a quick jog around the hall to keep warm.

The only problem I then encounter is how to keep warm throughout the day if I win matches and need to compete over a long period. In between matches should I continue to do sets of dynamics or can I afford to do some static stretches in between matches? (I know this is a sinful thing to say! No one should ever perform statics before dynamic action! But I just need to know how to stay warm in between matches)

Be glad of nay help from any one.

Thanks,

Carl

The most “to the point” as a warm-up for a bout is shadow fighting (shadow kickboxing) and throwing combinations on focus mitts or other hand-held targets. Use what works in similar sports, for example, look at what boxers do before entering the ring, and you won't have to “reinvent the wheel.”

I didnt even think about that as an option of keeping warm! But it is obviously the ideal method of keeping warm in between rounds.

Thanks Mr Kurz!
