Frequencey of relaxed stretching

Post by Superfoot »

I have a question about the frequencey of relaxed stretches (i.e. number of times they can be performed in a day).

"Stretching Scientifically " states that the most effective frequency of relaxed stretches is once per day.

It also states that you can perform then whenever you feel like it, without a warm up.

Does this mean, then, that I can perform relaxed stretches as a stand-alone workout when I wake up and before I go to bed?

At the moment I'm focusing primarily on relaxed side split stretches. I do two repetitions in the morning as soon as I wake up and again in the evening about an hour or so before I go to bed.

I plan to follow this course of action until I have gained a sufficient static passive range of motion to facilitate more effective dynamic stretches.

Is it okay to practice relaxed stretches twice a day? Is it worth it, or should I do them just once?
