Side splits question

Post by Rand »

Hey all,
Im not sure if this has been posted before. so sorry if it has!
When im atempting the sidesplits the back of my kness, or more spesificly the bone nearest the floor on the back of my knee (medial pattellar retinaculun or Tibal collateral (sp?) i think) starts to really hurt, as if all of my weight is resting on it. Now im pretty scared to go down any further as it really feels as if it mgiht break.
I think i might be doing the splits horribly wrong, any suggests will be apreciated, thanks.

First things to do are check you have no structural weaknesses(with your doctor) and check your technique.
This article will help with the correct posture of the side split:-

Sounds like you could be keeping your legs locked straight too much causing pain where the ligament connects.
