Tensing?

Post by x3 »

I bought the book Stretching Scientifically, and on page 54 it says, "Stretch the muscles, but not to the maximum, then tense for three to five seconds, then relax."

I'm wondering what is tensing? I tried looking it up on dictionary.com but got very stupid definitions. Any clear explanation of what tensing is will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I asked similiar question some time ago - tensing would be "squeezing" your muscle.
If we take the abs for example - tensing would be contracting/flexing them like you are about to get punched.

hope this helps
