Will I have to pay taxes when my order arrives?

Hi
I have ordered books before from the us(I live in Europe) and sometimes I had to pay more taxes than the book's price, other times I had to pay no taxes. People tell me it has something to do with shipping it like a gift or not

Any thoughts on this?

Also thinking about ordering this book and living in Europe. Anyone in Europe bought the book from the US and got hit with high import taxes?

Hi,
I believe tax has to be paid on items over a certain amount so how much tax you pay depends on how much you order is worth.

I live in the UK and when i recieved the secrets of stretching dvd paid no tax.When i recieved the power high kicks dvd which i ordered via priority shipping so it arrived faster i had to pay £20 at the door.
