I am sure I have done it all right but obviously not!

I have rcently started doing dynamic leg raises to increase the height on my kicks. I am 15 and I have started kungfu about 9 months ago. I didnt have high side kicks so I read some of Mr. Kurz's articles on how to increase height on kicks. I ben my legs point my supporting foot away from my opponent, lean slightly forward and can almost touch my foot when I do them ( I suspect the problem lies there) but my hips still hurt. Also when I do touch my foot my hips click and I don't think that is so good. Please assist me with any help you can.
Thanx

Which foot can you "almost touch" when doing this exercise?

Where do your hips hurt?

Can you describe this click you hear (where, when)?

Honestly, I don't think anyone is going to be able to help unless you are more specific about the problems you are having. I cannot visualize what you are trying to describe.
