Lower back and adductor strength

As measured by the weight used in the goodmorning lift and adductor pulldowns, how strong do the lower back and adductors need to be to achieve side/front splits?
A previous posting by Mr. Kurz said 2/3 of your bodyweight in the goodmorning. I want to verify that as that seems like a lot of weight to use in a goodmorning.

Hi,

I think you got a little bit of a mixed message, the weight of 2/3 of the bodyweight and 1/3 for back extensions on the bench are required before you begin isometrics.

You can of course reach a split via passive relaxed stretching without lifting any weight at all, but it will take some time and be a lot slower to get into than the isometric split.

As for weight, Mr Kurz once answered a question of mine which I think it worth stating here and that is you weight train to get stronger - not to lift more weight, so if you have only just recently started good mornings and are making progress, don't worry, if you have gone stagnent on good mornings leave them for a while for back extensions or deadlifts.

Also remember your stomach needs to be strong to support the weight so plenty of ab work is also needed.
