Dynamic stretches

Post by Kurt VV »

I am 36 year old black belt in taekwondo. Have been into TKD for more than 20 years. The last years however my flexibility became very poor. So I was looking around for methods to increase flexibility at my age. The method of Mr. Kurz seemed very logical to me. So recently I bought the book and DVD of mister Kurz and found them very interesting. I have one question however on dynamic stretches.
In the book mr. Kurz states that when doing dynamic stretches for the legs (leg swings) you should hold your hand and perform some kind of hand-kicking.
However when I watched the DVD, the leg swins were done without holding the hand. Did I get something wrong or did I miss something?
Or are both methods good to increase your dynamic flexibility?

Thanks for the reply.

You can do both ways. I use hand as "target" when not sure about my current level of flexibility, usually after previous day heavy training. And no target when loose.

Just my .02 :)
