Flexi-Max
Flexi-Max
I recently purchased a Flexi-Max which is a device that allows you to practice your kicks while supporting the weight of your leg. I have been amazed by the improvement of my kicks within only a couple of weeks. Although the suggestion is to do static stretches and some isometric stretching I have found it to be most useful for practicing kicks. I have used Kurz's methods with excellent results but am a believer in looking at other methods. I am not saying that leg raises are not beneficial, but this device allows you to perform dynamic stretched by actually performing the kicks. Therefore you are improving the flexibility of all the muscles used for kicking and none of the ones not used, which to me makes more sense than, say, stretching muscles that are not primary kicking muscles. Efficiency of training.
I am certainly not linked to the company in any way, although I can see why you would think that. Merely being flexible does not always facilitate being able to kick well. I was commenting that this device has helped me to practice my high kicks in a controlled manner which has resulted in an improvement in the flexibility and power of my kicks. I am not ignorant of other products. You seem to be extremely cynical of people. I was under the impression that this was a discussion board, not merely a Kurz fan club.mmeloon wrote:Why are you telling us this? Your post sounds an awful lot like an advertisement. Especially considering it is your first post on this board.
If you had really obtained "excellent results" from Kurz' methods, why would you need to spend money on a product like this? What more do you want?

Now that is an advertisement!!mmeloon wrote:wynnema, thanks for the clarification. You are correct there is more to kicking well than flexibility. In fact, stadion has an excellent videotape about that very subject. I apologize for suspecting that you had alterior motives in posting about this product.

Fair enough, jc. But since stadion is providing us with this resource for free (in addition to Kurz' Q&A email and numerous web articles) I didn't think it was out of line to point out that they have a product designed to address the very topic we were discussing.jc31415 wrote:Now that is an advertisement!!mmeloon wrote:wynnema, thanks for the clarification. Come on let's not get carried away. Yes Stadion does provide good resources in the form of Q&A and this forum, but they are a business who want to make money. The more people hear about Stadion's products the more books/videos will sell. Why do you think at the end of each email it says -
- simply because the nice people at Stadion want nothing more than to help athletes out of the goodness of their hearts.Let your friends know about the above-mentioned resources. Forward this message to every athlete you know"
9 Months and Very Little Usefull Info

I got to give props for his selling abilities. I respect the fact that Mr Kurz is probably sitting very comfortably earning a pretty good income from the fact that he has a couple of pictures of himself doing the splits on a couple of chairs. I'm sorry, Actually a couple of pictures spanning a couple generations doing the splits. It is, what it is.
I can't say much because I haven't BOUGHT THE BOOK, but the forum and Newsletters, are just sales tools. I seriously started out looking at every article there was before this Forum, and got a little bit of usefull info. When this Forum started, that all stopped. Every response from Mr. Kurz refers back to his book or videos.
Don't get me wrong, I respect ANYBODY who can do the full front or side splits, but I have to give up on this whole idea. I discovered Mr Kurz's name when I started my martial arts. Kinda Sucks to realize that the only way I can benefit from his knowledge is to give him or his publisher $19.95, or whatever it may be.
Was just actually hoping for what I thought I was getting......A site or forum that would give me practical info on how to improve my stretching abilities.........scientifically.
Oh Well,
signed: Not willing to pay the $$$$$ so not going to, STRETCH SCIENTIFICALLY!!

I really didn't want to reply to any more of these messages but my fear is that if I don't, someone else will.
Let's just all agree to disagree on this topic. Yes, stadion exists to make money. They are not a charitable organization. They do provide some information and services (e.g., email list, this BBS) for free and those are designed to increase their exposure. It's unfortunate that you haven't found these to be particularly helpful for you. I, personally, have found these resources and the stadion products I've bought (I have 7 so far) to be quite useful. But that doesn't mean they will be useful for everyone.
I would like to see the discussion end here because I can easily see this evolving into some kind of flame-war which isn't useful for anyone. Unless there is something else that REALLY needs to be said here, let's just close this out and move on.
Sound good?
