I don't see any reason for practising it 10 times a day. it would be very time consuming.

yeah yeah what I forgot to tell you is the ten times everyday is when you're under 5 or 10 minutes. Then they say to add some weights or other ways to make it harder.

That changes everything, backinjured! I wondered how on Earth can you perform 10 times a day if you stay for example 20 minutes in the horse stance?

:) hehe

but don't worry, the next step (adding weights, doing this on two pillars, etc) makes the exercise just as difficult as doing it 10 times a day... ;-)

Me too. But I need like complete silence and absolutly no distraction. I also noticed that I'm already comfortable in 5 step stance with thigs paralel. Its even easier than in 3 step stance. So in like 4-5 weeks (2-3 times per week) I've progressed from 3 to 5 stance. And my posture looks good too.
I've noticed if I back off for a day or two I am very motivated for the next session.

Excuse but I do not understand. DanBor how did you progressed from 3 to 5 step horse stance? Didn't you started from the 5 steps-stance?

At first yes, but I quickly realised that I'm not strong enough and that I was forcing it. So I went back to the beginnig - 3 step. So i was practising 3 step few weeks and yesterday I found that 5 step is comfortable.

But are you all really putting your feet parallel?? Shouldn't they be aligned with the thighs to avoid weak posture for knees?

More or less yes, that's why you need to start from 3 step horse stance. To learn the proper body alignment and to develop strenght as well. I can allmost do a side split but only in relaxed stretching. I'm not strong enough to do it from a standing position isometrically. That's why I started with only 3 step stance.

I've always had a problem understanding this parallel thing because when you are in a 5 step there is no way you can make your thighs parallel to the ground unless you got elastic bones but I can understand in the 3 step that the thighs are vertically paralell to the floor.

I have never started with the 3 step as I cannot keep a straight back at the same time as having hips at or below the knees, I can only do 5 or 7 step.

Please don't confuse the above with FEET parallel to the ground. Mr. Kurz in the book mentions that the THIGHS should parallel to the ground at any width.

I ment thigs paralel to the floor, feet pointing forward. How can you make feet paralel to the floor?? When you are low (hips at the same hight as the knees) you have thigs paralel to the floor, right? At any width. When you are lower or higher than that your thigs are not paralel any more. In the book, where Kurz is demonstrating how the horse stance should be done, he has thigs paralel to the floor at any width. And that the way it should be done. You don't need elastic bones.

Uh lol, sorry for the mess :? . All this time I imagined thighs parallel to each other, what a dumbass mistake. And yea the feet should be parallel to each other pointing forward. I confused the two, my bad.
