So I ordered the video Secrets of Stretching online last Sunday, and it came on Thursday. Friday morning I started with the joint rotations and dynamic strecthes as shown in the video, and I've done them every morning since then. At class tonight we were focusing on TKD style switch kicks, rounds, and some others and it was hard for me to keep my kicks down! They just wanted to go higher and higher and I couldn't believe it! Head level rounds without blinking or setting my hips on fire! WOW!
Now to figure out how to integrate the rest of the techniques into my training regimen, but that's another post all together.
I just wanted to say that I'm amazed with the fast results just from the dynamic stretching. Wow.
wow! dynamic stretches work!
I would be interested to hear if anyone has started dynamic stretches with average or even poor static flexiblity yet still seen vast improvement.
I was under the impression that you can only attain dynamic flexibility within your current static range of motion. I have however heard from some people that they were able to do vertical side kicks (splits in the air) without being even close to the splits.

From my observations it depends how far along you are with your flexibility training.
For example, people who can do the splits seldom seem to be able to perform a perfectly vertical side kick so their static flexibility seems(note,it may only seem) to be better than their dynamic flexibility.
People who are nowhere near performing the splits usually seem to able to kick higher than their static flexibility max though.
