humm, I have a question concerning a dynamic stretching exercise shown on the video Secrets of Stretching.
You know the dynamic stretch where you throw your leg backward. Thomas Kurz is showing it with hands on a chair. Does it matter if we do not use the chair (but using the same body alignment)? Would it be more stressful on the back or something? Is there a risk of injury or doesn't it matter?
Thanks
leg backward dynamic
The main problem i can see with performing the rear leg raise without a support is weight ditribution.
Leaning forwards without a support to rest on will place tension on the supporting leg hamstring(like in a stiff leg deadlift).Placing your hands on a chair will help to keep you relaxed.
Other than that the only other problem may be balance.
When i perform dynamic stretches,i use asupport for all of them(front, side, rear),as i want to get the most from the stretch without it becoming an exercise for balance.
