How do you increase the width of splits?

Post by jump4joy »

Hey, I can do both the front spilt on my left and the box spilt abut i want to get both my legs at 180. At the moment my right leg is straight and the left is at an angle. What stretches or exercises should i do to increse my flexibiltly and what needs to be more flexiable? Thanks for any info.

When do you find yourself in this situation? When you're attempting the front split on the right side?

You may have a strength imbalance, flexibility imbalance,or structural problems.

I'd rule that one out first by seeing a doctor.

Hi Jump4joy! Well I have the same problem when I attempt the side split, but is reverse: my left leg is straight and the right one is at angle. This is probably because I have been doing the right front split for a few years (so my left adductor is relaxed) and I had hard time trying to do the left front split. But now I've made some progresses and my left front split is full. All that remains is to patiently relax the left adductor!
