I want to improve the height in my high side and roundhouse kicks but the information given by Mr Kurz appears to contradict
In the stretching report I purchased (stretching report number 3) it says:
When learning it [raising side kick] you should start with the leg raise to the side shown on page 2 of this report. This exercise will eventually allow you to reach a higher side and roundhouse kick.
However in a reply Mr Kurz gave to a guy asking about side raises he said:
Answer: No, the dynamic stretch for a high roundhouse kick (jodan mawashi geri) is not the same as for the side kick. It is the same as for the front kick or for high knee kick (mae hiza geri).
This appears to be contradictory. I would like to know which raise is going to improve my roundhouse and side kick.
Thanks
Bruce

which leg raises are best
Both. The side raise, which improves mostly the high side kick, helps considerably with the roundhouse kick (improvement transfers). The improvement of dynamic active ROM from the front raise, which helps with the roundhouse kick, transfers little to the high side kick.
