back pain in sacroiliac and outside hip joint pain

Post by ronald »

when I try to do a side kick or roundhouse kick, my outside hip joint feels like the bones are crushing my joints shock absorber, it is a sharp pain, also my back (saccarilliac) joints on both sides hurt, it is not too bad but I have recently joined karate with my daughter, I am considering stopping because of the pain! any advice would be appreciated! I am 40, if that matters, I guess those 12 and 14 hour days finally caught up with me, if I can be healed I will continue! I love karate, allways have, so this is important to me, I have read several articles but nothing dealing with these 2 specific problems! thanks 8)

Kurz has information on your hip problem at the stadion website. I'm not sure what's going on with your back, though.

Sacroiliac Injury

Post by sarlalian »

About a year ago, I landed badly on my tailbone, and jamed my right Sacroiliac joint pretty badly. Because of inflamation and such, it was iritating my sciatic nerve, and causing all kinds of problems.

There are 3 stretches that have helped my back the most.

First, the basic knee pull. Where you lay on your back, and pull your knees towards your chest, and hold it for at least 30 seconds. Pull both knees at the same time.

The second is also from a prone position, you cross your right leg over your left leg, with your left leg out straight, and your right leg bent. Then pull with your left hand across your body on your knee, stretching out the joint.

The Third, is the stetch, also from a prone position, where you cross one leg over the other like you were sitting in a chair with one leg crossed in your lap, then pull on your other leg, stretching out your glute.

Those are the three stretches that my chiropractor recommended, and they have helped me a lot.
