I was just curious if you guys stretch while recovering from a weight training workout. I mean do you skip stretching if there is soreness, or just do relaxed stretches?
I've found that doing gentle dynamic stretching and some light relaxed stretching the day after an intense workout (weights or otherwise) can really help stiffness and soreness.
As Dragon suggests, isometrics or any intense stretching with sore muscles is a definite no-no.
If you're REALLY sore, you may have a mild injury (strain/pull) so best just sit it out for a couple of days with some complete rest.

I found light aerobic used to relieve stiffness/soreness the day after.
CrazyBoy-personally,i'd do your stretching straight after your weight training routine rather than waiting a few hours.Apart from helping to prevent stiffness you will also be able to get a better stretch when you have worked out rather than later when you have cooled down.

I bet you get lower in your splits, if you stretch directly after weight training crazyboy. Isos seem to work much better after a leg work out, and I was referring to soreness the next or even two days after a leg work out. I hate to miss a on day. I have in the past strecthed while sore (but not too sore) and even did the full splits front and side, just relaxed mind you not Iso. I was wondering if this was wise or should i wait till the soreness leaves.
I am back to thank you guys for your help! Today I did my leg strength training and afterwards (immediatly) I did the splits. The front splits and the side split worked like magic. I couldn't believe my eyes.
The front splits were done fully and at the side split I did for a few times the 7steps horse stance and afterwards the side split on to mitts. It was cool!
