Hi can anybody help?
I am difficulty getting my pelvis to tilt forward, when sitting with both feet out in front I cannot get my pelvis and back to 90 degrees (I am leaning back all the time).
When stretching forward to touch my toes my back bends but my pelvis does not tilt forward.
I have had xrays and ct scan which show that I have no abnormality, wear or damage in the hips, pelvis or lower back.
Unable to tilt pelvis forward
The pelvis tilting technique is used for the side split so the femur doesn't jam into the pelvis.
If you're sitting on the floor with your legs straight out in front of you there is no need to try and tilt your pelvis forwards.Instead, you are only trying to fold at the hips(no back rounding!).
Personally, never been a fan of this stretch(sitting or standing),i prefer to stretch my hamstrings one at a time.

Re: Unable to tilt pelvis forward
I've always found this stretch very hard and uncomfortable - much easier to stretch hamstrings individually rather than both legs at the same time.
Having said that, after improving flexibility of hamstrings with individual stretches and also strength training (stiff legged deadlifts), I discovered recently that I was able to do the "legs-together" hamstring stretch much more easily even though I hadn't practised it.
