ISOMETRICS

Post by Guest »

Hi I am ready to begin doing isometrics for the side and front splits because I have followed Mr Kurz's strength programme as shown on the video Secrets of Stretching and my muscles are strong enough. Now I know that I should do Isometrics around 4 times a week and use one stretch for one type of muscle group, but what I wanted to know is when I do Isometrics can I do work on 1 muscle group every session? For example in my 4 isometric sesions can I do work on the adductors and hamstrings in every single session or should I alternate e.g. sesssion1:adductors, session2:hamstrings, session 3:adductors session 4:hamstrings.

I would really apprieciate any help because I want to get started a.s.a.p!

Thanks.

Based on the video Secrets of Stretching, you can work on all muscles in each session. (but as you say only one stretch for one type of muscle group)

The video recommended:

Day 1: light isometrics
Day2: strong isometrics
Day3: no isometrics
Day4: light isometrics
Day 5: hard isometrics
Day6 and 7: no isometrics

I think if you try to break it up how you suggested in your message, you would be short changing yourself. If you find it too much for your muscles to follow such as schedule, then your muscles are still not strong enough.
