Floor surface for stretching

Post by Kit »

This may seem a strange topic, but I find that the surface i stretch on, makes a big diference (centimetres!) in my stretching. I usually stretch barefoot on carpet, but also do it with shoes on grass and also sometimes on carpet in socks... All of these result in my feet sticking at a certain point and although i can feel my legs could go wider, my feet won't allow it. Any ideas? What surfaces/footwear do you guys use for stretching?

Hello, I stretch on a carpet in socks, sometimes outside on the grass. I find it a little easier on a carpet.

barefoot on grass?

I find socks work well on carpet, in that you can slide more easily. i should try it that way again.
Thanks

When I wanted to increase the stretch, I used to slide on magazine covers. Be carefull though to control the sliding or you can injure yourself.

Good idea! and yes I imagine you'd need to make sure your legs are strong enough to train on a slippery surface like that to control the stretching. Sounds like a good strength builder too. Will give it a go!
Thanks Crazyboy
