If I was to do only Adductor Flyes, progressing to using them with ankle weights would my flexibilty increase i.e. would my legs drop further down in the flyes - because I am strengthening them in a stretched position??.
Or would you still need to work on increasing your range of motion i.e. stretching.
I can do adductor pull downs with practically the whole stack at the gym, so I guess the flyes must be more challenging, maybe because you are working both adductors in the flyes and only one in the pull downs.
Any suggestions please?
Adductor Flyes
I'm not sure why do you want to strenghten your adductors with flys when you say you can do adductor pulldowns with practically every weight.
That means your adductors are very strong, and pulldowns are more advanced exercise than flyes, you use heavier weights than in flys.
I used adductor flyes as preparation for isometrics (high reps). So in my experience adductor flyes alone are not enough, you have to combine it with stretches (isometrics or relaxed).

Exactly. And that is impossible with adductor flies. That's why one should progress to adductor pulldowns.dragon wrote:When you perform an isometric side split your legs are supporting your body weight.
To get the same effect with flies alone you would need to be lifting the equivelent amount of weight.
Dragon.
