Static-active stretching questions

Good morning. I have the following questions on static-active stretching: 1. Can I do relaxed stretches before static-active stretches? (Example: side split relaxed stretches before side kick static-active stretches?) I ask this because in the example gymnastics workout outlined in Stretching Scient...

Knee "popping"

When I get to 6~8 inches off the floor in a side split, my right knee makes a dull (but audible) "pop" sound, similar to the sound made when cracking knuckles. It causes no pain. Any idea what this could be?

Yes, the principle shown in the video (keeping one foot anchored while pushing with the other) is what I described on increasing the stretch. But rather that sit down and wait out the tension as is shown in the video, I find it much more beneficial to crawl forwards with my hands (lifting my hips up...

Alternative way to do a side split

This stretch begins from the "toes-up" side split position and transitions to the "toes-forward" side split position. It targets the adductors in the same way as the traditional side split, and hip alignment is the same in both positions (toes-up and toes-forward). Here is how to do the stretch: 1. ...

DON'T BUY ELASTIC STEEL!

It's useless. You get a cheaply-made handbook that is a poor imitation of Stretching Scientifically, and the author has poor spelling and grammar.

Elastic Steel = rip off.

Stretching Scientifically = the real deal.

Dynamic stretching without static stretching

Question: Is it possible through continued dynamic stretching to eventually kick above one's head with no warm up and never do any form of static passive or static active stretching (i.e. relaxed, isometric or active stretching)? Or is a certain amount of static passive stretching required in order ...

Frequencey of relaxed stretching

I have a question about the frequencey of relaxed stretches (i.e. number of times they can be performed in a day). "Stretching Scientifically " states that the most effective frequency of relaxed stretches is once per day. It also states that you can perform then whenever you feel like it, without a...

Relaxed stretching using Splitflex

Hi, I use a stretching machine to assist with my relaxed stretches called Splitflex. (www.splitflex.com). My flexibility when doing a seated side split (sit down, legs out front, open them up to the sides with the toes pointed up, etc) is roughly a little over 90 degrees. I've just started using the...
