I know you are very busy but if you get a chance...no hurry, I was wondering if you study any type of martail art also.
If so, what type is it ?
I have you book and video and they are a wonderful aid. I study TKD.

Dragon asks why I think I am not kicking as high as I would like to...In my case I think it is a combination of lack of flexibility combined with a lack of muscle strength to pull the kicking leg to the heighth I would like. Maybe I'm not giving myself enough time. I have only been back to TKD for 4...

Hi guys, In Tom's book he states that static active stretching is not necessary for high kicks because a high kick is a dynamic movement. Are dynamic leg raises and practicing kicking technique enough to achieve head high kicks. I also do his workout on pages 94 and 95 of "Stretching Scientifically"...

Sounds good. I thought I would do the squats with just my body weight untill I could do around 75 or 100 then add weight. My legs at this point are my weak point, so you think working with weights would be better?

Lot of info...thank you for the reply. A question if I may. I do Hindu Squats for leg strength. It one long set better than 2 or 3 shorter sets?
Right now I am doing one long set. Just starting and they are tough.

It does seem to help the soreness go away. I just don't want to lose any flexibility. I am 47 and just getting back into TKD after about 10 years and need all the help I can get.

Is it advisable to do dynamic leg raises when yor muscles are sore from strength excersises or TKD class? I know they should be done twice a day.

Thanks guys,
That makes sense to me. Even though a dynamic stretch is more of a controlled "lift" of the leg...the extra weight would probably contunue the stretch too far.

Thank you for the info. I need all the help I can get. The knee problem is okay now that I got my hips in the correct position. Please let me clarify the ankle weights. I do no intend to do actual kicking with them but only dynamic leg raises. What do you think?

Hi Guys,
Another leg raise question. I am doing dynamic leg raises to improve my kicking heighth. I am currently about 90 degress. I am working toward head hi kicks. Is it a good idea to use ankle weights at this time, or should I get to the heighth I want first, the use weights?

Thanks, my legs are sore and I want to back off a bit but still do some relaxed stretching until the soreness goes away.
