Tadeusz Starzynski was an outstanding coach, creator of the “Polish school of triple-jump.” He was a world authority on training for jumps. Athletes coached by him won two Olympic gold medals, two gold medals at European Championships, and several times won national championships and set national records. Between 1956 and 1972 he directed preparation of Polish track-and-field jumpers for the Olympic games. He also has worked with foreign athletes (in Mexico and elsewhere), and was a much appreciated lecturer of coaching courses. He was a member of the World and European Federation of Track and Field Coaches, and his more than 150 publications were translated to fourteen languages and published in 30 countries. He was especially known for his works on triple jump and the methodology of training for jumps. Together with Henryk Sozanski he wrote Explosive Power and Jumping Ability for All Sports.
